Greek History/Mythology Wonder-Course

Dear Parents,

A couple of the students who are taking the Greek History wonder-course with me expressed interest in getting their own copy of the Iliad.  Yesterday we read the first two "chapters" in the Iliad as a kick-off to our time together.  I am using Alfred Church's translation and the kindle-version of that translation is 99 cents!  We are also using Usborne's The Greeks and the D'Aulaire's book on Greek Mythology.  Please contact me directly with any questions:  tsanuye1@saisd.net

Field Trip to the Library!

Hello everyone!

Students that did not get a chance to go on our field trip to the Central Library last week will be visiting the Library on Tuesday October 25th!  Please be on the lookout for a permission slip!

While visiting the library, students will have the chance to check out books about their Speak Up! Speak Out! project topic.  If your student has a library card, please have them bring it on the day of the field trip.  If not, no worries!  We will check out the books for them.

If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Hudson or D Schattel.

Click here for a copy of the permission slip.

The gifted and talented referral window is open until October 14th. After October 14th, we are unable to accept any referrals. All 1st and 5th grade students will be assessed using a universal screener. If you plan to recommend your child for testing, please let your child's teacher know as soon as possible so that the teacher can send home a referral form. If you are new to SAISD and your child was previously identified and enrolled in another school district, please email Beth Koennecke at fmorrowkoennecke1@saisd.net no later than Wednesday Oct. 12th.
